Forum Members Pledge Donations if Canucks Beat Wild

After Flowison posted that he was going to donate $10 to Canuck Place if the Canucks manage to snap their long losing streak against the Wild on Saturday, other CDC members quickly followed suit. So far Canucks.com forum members have pledged to donate over $300 to Canuck Place in the event of a Canuck victory against the Wild.

As for Flowison's motives for this generosity:
"This thread isn't to mock the Canucks but rather to add a positive spin on it, even if they don't read this thread and even if they don't know about it, at least we can hope they'll win and donate to a good cause, right?"
All I can say is GO CANUCKS GO!

How to Turn the Canucks Season Around

There has been no shortage of solutions to the Canucks mid-season woes posted on the forums this week. Some of the more colourful suggestions have included: split up the Sedinsput Sundin with the Sedinsfire Alain Vigneaultstrip Luongo of his captaincyrebuild the team completelyget rid of the "7th man" bannerstart a line brawl, and (my favourite) bring back Gino Odjick!

There's one thing that everyone seems to agree on; the Canucks need to do SOMETHING.

It's like a Disney Movie...

The brief scuffle that broke out at practice on Thursday between Mason Raymond and Willie Mitchell spawned alot of discussion on the boards. Many seemed to think that this was a good sign for the team to be showing frustration.

Eternal Captain commented:
"This makes me happy. At least they are showing that they care, and that the frustration level is high. Good sign in my eyes."
PG Canuck drew the comparison between the Canucks and the familiar Disney sports movie format.
"This is like a disney movie, first we completely self destruct, then all of a sudden the team starts to come together."
Let's hope this season has a hollywood ending for the Canucks. Maybe someone should teach Mats Sundin the knuckle-puck?

Canucks Place 7th Man on Injured Reserve

masutheakita posted a hilarious satirical news release about the latest Canuck to go down to injury.
"Mike Gillis, GM of the Canucks announced today that the Canucks 7th Man has been placed on Injured Reserve. Lower body injuries were sustained while jumping off the bandwagon. Concussions were sustained while slapping their head after losing the SJ game. Mental health issues will be determined after a through examination of forum posts. Injuries are expected to last until the next 2 game win streak or shutout. Long term prognosis has yet to be determined."
I swear, the 7th man has been more injury prone over the years than Sami Salo!

JANUARY 26, 2009 ROUND-UP

Jay Bouwmeester, potential Canuck?

Hondamatic posted this: "Jay Bouwmeester will be moved before the deadline, this is all but certain. Even if the Panthers play better and have a shot at making the playoffs, I don't think there's a hope of a chance that the Panthers will be able to agree on a new deal with him and they'll not keep him around and get nothing for him either, so look for him to be moved before the deadline, for sure.

The Canucks desperately need a veteren, puck moving defenseman. They have the cap room, now they just need the balls to make such a move and give up good, young players (off and on their current roster). MG has to show he has the balls to do something like this, not just sign an overrated, over the hill player like Sundin. I'm waiting for something really exciting such as this to happen. I see Bowmeester fitting in perfectly with the Canucks. Size, speed, skill, a great shot and a great head for the game. He would almost immediately make Salo and/or Bieksa/Ohlund expendable (but not until the end of this season)."

ALL STAR BREAK: HOW ABOUT THIS?
DeathMachine says: "A lot of people dont like the all star game because of lack of physical play and the risk of possibly losing a star player to an injury of a pointless game.

So how about a game between the leagues most annoying "pests" (avery,cooke,burrows.etc.) VS the leagues toughest enforcers (laraque, brashear, boogarrd, etc.)

And for the goaltenders, have all the NHL players vote who the top pest and enforcer of the league is....Then have them as the goalies....This guarantees scoring....And the fans get to watch pucks get shot at possibly a guy like Avery or even The Boogyman.

And to top it off,you dont have to worry about a star player being injured (like luongo, because if he were to get re-injured during the All star game....I would just snap.)
What do you think?"

CANUCKS THIS SEASON: WHERE WILL THEY FINISH?
IbleedOil says: "Battling a very tough north west division, i see canucks fighting for third or fourth spot with minny. Lets be realistic here."

1.Calgary-(Very solid all around team with fast and physical offense with secondary scoring to rely on to. Solid defensively with decent goal tending)

2.Edmonton-(Best offensive defenceman in the league hands down. The most underated player in the national hockey league in Ales hemsky. By far the best team in the north west division, but due to a slow start i doubt theyll catch up to the flames.)

3.Minny(TRAP....)

4.Vancouver-(Relys on goaltender to steal every game. And Sub par offense with too much expectation on MAts Sundin.Never gonna perform. Biggest problem facing this team is that they are made out of glass.)

5.Colarado-(Who cares)
