Should Wandering Goalies be Fair Game?
It seems that some Canucks fans are sick and tired of watching Marty Turco's amazing puck control skills. Turco always seems to save his best for games against Vancouver, and his timely saves and assist on the game winning goal did the Canucks in on Friday night. A few times, Turco's puck handling behind his own net bordered on interference, as he seemed to obstruct Canucks' forecheckers from getting to the puck.
kacholu would like to see a rule change:
So what i think the nhl should do is, call interference when a player runs a goalie in the crease or behind the net, BUT when the goalie gets out of the crease and is not behind the line then the player should be allowed to hit the goalie as they would to any other player. This way a goalie will think twice before comming out of his net to play the puck and will be risking injury at their own expense.
Richard_Park_Rules sees it differently:
If Louie came out to play the puck while the Canucks were on the PP and someone laid a punishing, YET clean hit on Louie, and as a consequence of that play, he is out till the rest of the season, would you still want that rule to come into effect?Stop whining. As much as I hate Turco, you have to admire his puck handling skills
Will Leafs (Tank) Nation Boo Sundin?
Tank Hankerous decided to post a few colourful anti-Sundin posts that have popped up on the Toronto Maple Leafs Message Boards this week. It seems that some Leafs fans are still pretty bitter about Sundin's decision not to waive his no-trade clause last season.
Here's the gem from the Leafs' boards:
"I seriously cannot wait until February 21st; the day Mats Sundin comes back to Toronto. I confess that I am a tank nation member, but for that one night, I am more than willing to suspend the tank, because I really want to lay a beat down on Sundin and the Canucks. It would be nice if we could really embarrass him(something like a good old 10-0 blowout would be very heartwarming). I honestly want February 21st to be the worst night of Mats Sundin's life. As long as he is totally miserable and plays the worst game of his career, I will be a very happy person. He broke the hearts of countless blue and white faithful, so now I hope that Leafs Nation pays him back in kind. He could have retired a legend, but instead he chose to become nothing more than an insolent bald filthy lying hypocrite."
If you are confused as to what this poster meant by "Tank Nation", it refers to a group of fans that are hoping that the Leafs enter complete rebuild mode by trading away players for picks and hopefully falling to last place overall in the NHL standings, likely giving the Leafs a chance to draft John Tavares.
It seems that Canucks fans and Leafs fans are finally BOTH cheering for Leaf losses. How heartwarming!
While "Tank Nation" members may well boo Sundin next week, the true blue Leafs fans will have a hard time greeting him with anything else but applause. Whatever his reception may be, here's hoping Sundin and the Canucks make the Air Canada Center a very quiet place to play.
Johnny Canuck Fan Art Wallpaper
Couch Coach created an awesome looking Johnny Canuck wallpaper.
Asked for an artist's statement, Coach Coach had this to say:
“Hmmm what can I say? Just a quick drawing of the old Johnny Canuck logo from the WHL years, featuring current Canucks colours. I wanted to draw him from another angle, in more of a cartoon style. Then I added some stripes and turned it into a wallpaper for all of CDC to enjoy.”
Available in 2 sizes.
